More resistant than regular NaI(Tl) crystals but with an almost identical scintillation performance, our geophysical line of ruggedized NaI(Tl) crystals has been specifically developed for environments where enduring high thermal and mechanical shock is critical. These scintillators’ sturdy internal structure is a result of recrystallising under high heat and pressure, which restructures the crystal grains.
Thallium-doped sodium iodide crystals (NaI(Tl)) are a great choice for radiation detection, offering excellent light output, a wide energy detection range, and competitive pricing. However, with regular scintillators, the smallest crack can lead to the fracturing of the entire crystal, rendering it operationally useless due to reduced light yield and degraded pulse height resolution. In contrast, any small fractures developing inside our Geophysical Scintillation Crystals remain local and their influence on scintillation performance is limited. The shock-absorbing packaging and repeated heat cycle tests ensure that these ruggedized scintillation crystals will operate even under the harshest of conditions.
With over 30 years of expertise in environmental detection technologies, we grow and assemble our scintillation crystals entirely in-house at our factory. This ensures rigorous quality control, flexibility, and fast delivery times for our customers.
